IMPORTANT NOTES
The charges below do not include any penalties or fines issued by customs. We require all import & Export codes with VAT number when entries are done.

I have a question about INTERNATION COURIER SERVICES

NON DOCUMENT EXPORT PAPERWORK
ABC Direct Express follows the international customs regulations regarding the export paperwork attached to non-document shipments. The invoice MUST follow the country of destination requirements: Full description of goods, serial and item numbers must have a word description on the invoice. No generic wording i.e. SAMPLES. Correct number of items, unit price per item, total value and currency displayed, shipper and consignee info shown on paperwork. Non documents shipments that do not have the correct paperwork will be held back until the shipper supplies the correct export paperwork.

PERSONAL EFFECTS
Personal effects are not permitted in every country. You need to enquire before sending.
The following paperwork is required when sending personal effects:
• Full detailed packing list, with values.
• Copy of airline ticket.
• Copy of passport.
• Proof of residence (for destination country).
• A C3 Form is required (for London only). You can request a form from our customer services dept.
• A CCBDF form is required (for Beijing only). You can request a form from our customer services dept.
• A UPES form is required (for Australia only). You can request a form from our customer services dept.

DANGEROUS GOODS
• Dangerous goods are not permitted in every country, you need to enquire before sending.
• Dangerous goods shipments may not move on the COURIER service, only as CARGO.
• The rates for dangerous goods is not on your rate guide, you need to mail for a full quote.
• Should you require ABC Direct Express to handle the packaging, please request a price as this is an additional fee.
• If you have had your own shipment packaged, ABC Direct Express requires a packaging certificate (I.A.T.A).
• We need a MSDS for all dangerous goods shipments. No goods will move without the MSDS.
• ABC Direct Express follows the IATA Regulations with regards to all dangerous goods cargo.

PERISHABLES/ FOODSTUFF
Foodstuff is not permitted in every country. You need to enquire before sending.
We require a full ingredients list and or a % composition lab document with the shipment.
Foodstuff cannot always be sent as COURIER, we do have a CARGO service which can be used.
Liquids are restricted as COURIER unless packaged correctly and prior permission has been obtained.

MEDICATION
Medication is not permitted in every country, you need to enquire before sending.
Some countries will allow medication to be sent but require the following paperwork:
• A doctor’s prescription.
• A pharmacy letter is accepted if medicine is purchased over the counter.
• A copy of the medicine leaflet and the box – which states what medicine is made of and used for.

PACKAGING
• Secure packaging for all consignments is imperative.
• Shipments packaged with wood/crated will need to have a fumigation certificate, for countries that require it.
• All Glass/framed glass/pictures and artwork must be crated. (We can assist you should you need some
assistance with the correct packaging. This is done at an additional cost.
• ABC Direct Express cannot be held responsible for insufficient packaging of goods.

TRANSIT TIMES
• All transit times quoted are to be used as a guideline, and are not guaranteed.
• Transit times are calculated on working days only.
• Remember when requesting information and or booking collections, that the different countries TIME ZONES need to be taken into consideration

IMPORTANT REGULATIONS FOR BLNS COUNTRIES

Botswana
• Commercial or TAX invoice is required – ORIGINAL only.
• The goods should be itemised.
• Option available for consignee to claim back VAT if applicable.
• Exporters code compulsory. No general exporters code allowed.
• Physical address of sender & receiver required.
• There must be proper description of goods in English.
• Information on invoice should not be altered by hand.
• Must be on letterhead of company sending.
• No hand written information allowed on the invoices.
• Consignee Import code, GST/VAT or TIN number is required, and should be on the ORIGINAL invoice.
• Invoice must have physical addresses of both consignor and consignee*.

Lesotho
• Tax Invoice required showing consignors and consignee’s VAT number.
• If Invoice does not show VAT charged at origin and value is above M500.00 then VAT will be charged to consignee by LS customs.
• If shipment invoice and other documents not endorse by SARS confirming VAT paid at origin then consignee will be charged VAT by LS customs.
• Only VAT paid on shipments moved by road through an approved border post can be reclaimed by consignee.
• Exporters code compulsory. No general exporters code allowed.
• Invoice must have physical addresses of both consignor and consignee*.

Namibia
• Commercial Invoice.
• Must be on letterhead.
• Consignee should have a VAT import number.
• Invoice should show both consignor and consignee VAT numbers.
• If Invoice shows VAT (not mandatory) then import VAT based on invoice value excluding origin VAT charges.
• VAT is always paid by consignee to NA Customs regardless of whether VAT paid at ZA origin.
• Options available for consignee to claim back the VAT if applicable.
• Invoice must have physical addresses of both consignor and consignee*.

Swaziland
• Tax Invoice.
• Invoice must have physical addresses of both consignor and consignee* •
• Customs declaration must be endorsed on the SAD500 •
• Currency must be ZAR (South African Rand)•
• Each line item must have a value per individual item sent.
• General Sales Tax (GST) is always paid on import to SZ Customs regardless of whether VAT paid at ZA origin.
• Consignee can claim back the VAT paid to SARS in ZA if applicable.
• Exporters code compulsory , no general exporters code allowed.
• Invoice must have physical addresses of both consignor and consignee*.
Please note if the above rules are not followed, the shipments can be returned and or destroyed. This can cause delays on the export.
